Let’s go a little deep on how to get it all set up:

Create an account

It is easy to create a SamCart Account. Log into the website SamCart.com and click on the obvious ‘TRY IT FREE’ button.

You’ll be taken to the pricing page. Here you can choose which plan you would like to try.

Before you can try it, you don’t need to make an initial payment. Click on any of these plans to be taken the checkout page.

During the 14-day free trial period, there will be no charges for you to use the product. You have 14 days to cancel your subscription.

After you have completed your order, you will be taken to the signup page.

And then you’ll have to create your marketplace. You’ll see a form like the one below.

Simply fill in the form. Then, click on “Create Marketplace” and you can get started.

You are now fully registered and you can begin using SamCart. Samcart Basic

Next step is to create a checkout page. By the way, here is how your SamCart dashboard will look like:

As you can see, it takes only three steps to create your checkout pages.

Step 1: Modify Settings

You can click the Edit Settings button to open the page you wish to edit in a new tab. It won’t take long for you to be taken directly to that page.

Let’s move on.

The Edit page is divided into 5 sections. In the General tab, you can edit quite a wide range of options from your cart logo to your content URL parameters.

Let’s find out what we can do with these fields.

i). Marketplace Name: You can change the Marketplace name at any time. Remember that you added it during your signup process.

You can edit it if it’s not correct.

You can then choose a country that will be displayed as default on your checkout page. Customers can also change this to any country they wish.

ii). Time Zone: Select the Time Zone with which your cart will operate. Samcart Basic

This is important as if you add an expiry date to your product, it will count based on the time zone that you specify. You can also let your customers know which time zone you use.

iii). Support Contact: Here you will add your support email. Add an email customers can contact you with easily.

Any email address you choose can be added. However, it’s better to add a business email address, for example, [email protected]

iv). Currency: It’s also important to note that you won’t be able to change your currency after you set it during registration. So at this point, you can’t change your currency.

However, if you want to change it, you should be able to do that by contacting the SamCart support team.

v). Embed HTML/Scripts fields: If you have some technical knowledge and wish to add HTML/JavaScript code to your checkout pages, you can fill in the Embed HTML/Scripts fields.

You don’t need any other settings for that to work. It should be able to work straight out the box. Samcart Basic

vi Complete purchase: Here you can select the destination your users will go to after making a purchase. It is up to you whether you want them to go directly to the original URL, or to display a summary page that contains redirect links.

With the Redirect Link Button, you can show your customers what to click next using a call to actions button.

You can, for example, grant them access to the product.

After you have completed this step, you will be ready to go. You can however, configure your marketing data at once if you wish.

You don’t need to change the settings. If you prefer a custom setting, you can modify the fields using any name you like following the example.

Save the settings after you have finished editing. The Save button is located in the top right corner.

Next, move to Integration menu tab. There is a wide range of integration options.

It’s important that you set up the integration now so you don’t have to create it each time you want to sell a new product.

Let’s get started with the integration of our email autoresponder software. To add an email service, click on the +Add New button.

Pick the one that best suits you. Once you have registered with AWeberor MailChimp click on it to follow the instructions.

Let’s assume that MailChimp is your autoresponder of choice for this example.

Edit the integration details if MailChimp is selected from the drop-down menu. Add the integration label and input your API key.

Your label can be given any name you want. This will be what you use to identify the integration should you choose to. Give it a descriptive name. MailChimp Integration will become my MailChimp Integration. Samcart Basic

Next, log into your MailChimp Account to obtain your API key. Log into Mailchimp.com by entering your username & password.

Once you have successfully logged into your MailChimp Account, go to the Extras Menu. There you will find API keys in a drop-down menu.

Click on the Create a Key button and the API key will be generated for you automatically. There is nothing else you need to do.

Copy the code and paste it into your SamCart integration configuration.

And that’s all there is to it.

You may need to do some modifications if you wish to integrate other platforms.

To integrate with Aweber, for example, you don’t need to manually go to your dashboard to get your API key. The system will allow you to log in and complete the integration.

These are two common ways that integration processes work in many cases.

You might want to integrate your product with a membership website if it is.

Scroll down to find the Membership link.

Click on + Add New.

And this page will show up:

Select the membership platform you want to use for your product and click on Add Integration.

I can now input the required information and click the Integration button. All of the necessary information can be found in your dashboard. Log into OptimizeMember to see them.

Next, you can now customize your email settings. Click on the Email tab to access this function. You can modify the following settings:

a Email Footer: This is where you can edit and change the footer information that will appear in every email sent from your dashboard.

Once you click it, a popup box will show up for you to edit.

Next, you will need to create emails which are the same for each customer for certain events. Samcart Basic

Example: When a customer’s order is refunded.

To make changes, click the Edit button.

What about when processes fail? These are where you will set the email messages that customers receive when processes fail.

After you’re done editing your email, you can add custom fields if desired. You can add customized fields to your checkout pages by clicking the CUSTOMFIELDS tab.

To add custom fields, click on the + Create New button.

A pop up will show up.

Enter the name of the fields you want to add, the internal field name won’t be seen by your customer but the check out page label will be shown to the customer as the field name.

You will see a list with all the items you have selected when you click on it. For a drop down list, the customer is limited to selecting one item.

A checkbox can contain multiple items that the user can choose from. Customers have the option to choose from all of them (or just one)

This is just one item.

After you have finished, click on Save.

You can add as many as you wish. But let me warn you, customers hate long forms. Don’t make your form too long.

It’s likely they will abandon it. As I mentioned, 2/3 customers will abandon the shopping cart.

Don’t add another reason for them to leave. Research shows that 27% of shoppers abandon shopping carts due to it being too complicated or long. Samcart Basic

Please, keep it simple.

Enter their email address below and click Add New. Once they accept your request, you will be sent an email. They will receive an email to accept your request. Once that happens, they will also be able log in as an administrator.

You are done with Step one in the setup process.

Let’s now move on to Step 2.

Step 2: Connect a Processor

Go back to the previous tab if you’ve been following this tutorial. Connect a payment processor so you can receive payments. Click on the Add payment processor button.

You will then be taken to Settings again. The payment integration option can be found here.

To add a payment processor, click on the big ADD NEW button or the +Add New Button by the top right corner of the page.

SamCart is currently integrated with Stripe and Paypal as payment processors.

Click on the Create New button to open a new page.

Click on Stripe or Paypal. Click on Stripe to open this page and log in with your credentials.

Don’t know where to get the credentials? Samcart Basic

The form is easy to fill out. You must ensure that Stripe accepts payments from your country.

If you decide to add the two payment options for your customers, that’ll be nice. Customers can choose the payment method they prefer.

Let’s go on to the next stage:

Step 3: Create a product

Now go back to your dashboard. From where you were redirected to the Payment processor page. Click on the Add First Product Button this is the interesting part.

Click that button and you’ll see the following page.

Click the button “+New Product”

This page allows you to update product information. You will need to enter the product name, description, and price. Choose whether the payment will be one-time or recurring.

A product like an ebook will most likely be a one time payment type of product, however, a product such as a membership or an online course will most likely require a recurring payment option.

Once you have entered the product information you may need to update the next page.

These settings can be found in the top menu.

Let’s start with the product picture. Upload your product image. This image will appear on the SamCart checkout page.

You can enter the URL of the webpage your customers will visit when they make their purchase from your checkout page. Most people will have a page like yourdomain.com/thankyou.html Next enter the product type are you selling a digital product or physical product?

If the product is digital, you can upload it immediately. However, if it’s not a digital product, you can ignore that option. Samcart Basic

Finally, this stage allows you to enable the coupon codes option if you intend to use coupons for your marketing.

You can enable it to allow people to use coupons to purchase your product at a reduced price.

Click the Add New Coupon Button. A pop-up will display the following information:

Using coupon codes is a great way to generate more customers for your business. Discounts are a favorite with customers. Just think, some customers will buy things they don’t need because it’s cheap.

They will say it may become too expensive later on, when they might be in need and don’t have the cash.

So they will likely buy. Marketing with coupon codes is a great strategy. Samcart Basic

Complete the coupon code setup: Choose a code for your coupon code, set the duration will it be a one-time coupon or a recurring coupon code? Choose the one that best describes what your customer wants.

Not to mention, adding a coupon can be completely optional.

Let’s move on to the checkout pages design.

Click on Checkout Design to open a selection of over 18 templates. You can choose any one of them that suits your brand.

Scroll down to modify the design. You’ll find a bunch of settings you can edit to match your brand’s voice.

Start by customizing the colors.

You can select from predefined color codes and create your own. The best part is that it has a color picker, you can use this color picker to select the color you want without bothering about the color codes.

You can modify the color of your header, footer or background, as well as your buttons.

Next, add fields. Remember the “school” field that you created earlier? We can add it to your product page. You can check the fields that you wish to make active on your checkout pages.

You can move on to the next settings your product’s guarantee settings. What guarantee are they offering your customers Are you offering a guarantee of 30 days? Samcart Basic

This setting can be added to the site. SamCart was built with conversions in mind. These features are designed to encourage conversion.

You can use the +Add Bullet button to add more points as bullet points to your Checkout page.

Once you set that up completely, you can now move to adding your terms and conditions. Turn it in.

When you turn it on, customers must agree to your terms before they can purchase your product.

Remember to include a URL that points to your Terms and Conditions content.

The link will be at the bottom of the page with the hyperlink “Terms and Condition.” Next, you want to add the payment processor for your checkout page. Don’t worry, you won’t need to go through the steps you went through in step two again.

Simply click on the Payments tab, and you can turn on all active Payment options.

Only PayPal is active in my case because I have only integrated PayPal to this review. Samcart Basic

However, if Stripe has been integrated into your system, it will be active and you can turn the on/off switch.

It is possible to add a second payment processor. This is a feature that merchants can use to add an alternate product. Click on the drop-down menu to select an item. Samcart Basic

You wish to add an additional product. To edit the upsell option, click on the Upsell tab. Here’s an example of what your upsell product might look like.

It should be an item that customers can add to their shopping basket to compliment the product.

To edit your Upsells, click on the UpSells tab and edit it. Note that you must have created the product before adding it to the cart. So you just need to click and add it.

If you’ve created an upsell funnel, you can add it here too. Later in this article, we’ll discuss the upsell funnel.

Let’s move on to the next part of the process, which is creating our product checkout pages and then integrating them.

Click the Integration tab

You will notice that the MailChimp integration appears in our drop-down list.

The drop-down menu lets you choose which customer list you wish to add after a purchase, refund or to remove after purchase.

This will enable segmentation of your email list, allowing you to better market and send the right emails at the right moment to the right customer. Samcart Basic

You will also see that there is no membership integration.

But, if your product has a membership requirement, you need to integrate your member portal using the method that we previously discussed.

The last section is Advanced.

If you think that you are a rockstar, and you want to add some custom code to personalize your checkout pages further, this is the place. You can add HTML or scripts to your checkout page footer or header.

One important script you could add here in Facebook pixel script or your Google Analytics script to help you acquire more data to do better marketing.

Log on to your SamCart dashboard, click on the drop-down menu for upsells, and select UPSELLS.

A pop-up will appear to allow you to fill in the details of your upsell.

Enter the product information and details that you would like to promote to your customers. Click on the Create Upsell button once you are done. Next, you will be taken to a page where you can further customize your upsell details. Samcart Basic

This is where you can add video to increase conversion. Additionally, there are many settings you can modify to increase the effectiveness of your upselling efforts.

Once you’re done with filling out the form completely, enable and save your settings.

In simple terms, affiliate marketing is the process of earning a commission by promoting other people’s (or company’s) products.

This is one of most powerful forms of online advertising. In this scenario, you are the owner of the product and SamCart gives you the platform to get people to receive a commission when they refer people to your checkout page and the referrals buy your product through their affiliate links.

It all takes place in the SamCart affiliate centre. You must first sign up to your affiliate program before you allow your affiliates to promote your products.

As a SamCart customer, you already have an affiliate signup page where people can sign-up to become your affiliates.

To access this page you will need to log in and navigate to the “AFFILIATES” tab in your menu bar.

Once the page has loaded completely, scroll down until you see the fields that your affiliates will log in and the place they’ll sign-up.

If you paste the link to the signup page into the browser, you’ll find something similar to this with your product name.

Affiliates can register with that link to start promoting your products. Once your affiliates register, they’ll be notified about a successful registration. Also, their application is pending approval.

Your affiliate dashboard allows you to manually approve or reject an application. Samcart Basic

Once they are approved, they will be sent their login details email, password, and login URL so they can access their accounts.

You can also activate automatic approval via your Affiliate dashboard, even if they are still pending.

Scroll down to the bottom and click on Auto Approval.

Instead of receiving emails advising them that their application is being reviewed, they’ll be approved immediately. The login details for the applicant will be sent immediately to them and they will automatically log in to their dashboard.

Here’s how the dashboards of your affiliates will look once they login.

How long will you like someone who clicked on your affiliate links without purchasing the first time to be regarded as the affiliate referral when they eventually register?

If I click on your affiliate link, return to your checkout page, and make a purchase after 30 days, am I still considered your referral?

You can also modify these settings:

In your affiliate dashboard, scroll down to the point where you’ll find the Cookie Expiration option. Enter the number and duration of time you wish it to stay.

In the example below, after someone clicks on an affiliate link and the person buys your product anytime within 30 days, it’ll be recorded for your affiliates.

So, how do you set it up?

It’s very easy, and you don’t even need to know any code.

Select any product and click on the Products tab. Next, click on the customize tab.

On the CUSTOMIZE tab, activate the “Sales Letter Popup” template.

After you’ve selected the Sales Letter Popup template make sure to save the settings.

Scroll down to edit the settings for Sales Letter Popup template.

Once everything is set up, click the share button at top left of your dashboard to get the code for your website.

This is it. The code you need to enter into your website’s URL will look something like this:

Copy this code and paste it on your product page. A popup will appear when someone clicks the button.
